Birth - Week 3

Birth - 3/28/2026

On March 28, the legendary twins Artemis and Apollo were born! Luckily Thea had a relatively uneventful whelping (always good for mama and her people). Her people decided on the litter theme/name of Bella Primavera. Living in the Colorado Rockies, the transition from a bustling ski town to the quiet "mud season" is a special time; it’s when the mountain truly wakes up. Thea's family chose Bella Primavera (Beautiful Spring) for this litter because these puppies arrived just as the valley began its own transformation, symbolizing a fresh start and the vibrant new life returning to the Rockies. Since this was a uniquely small litter, we wanted names that felt intentional rather than accidental, which led us to the legendary twins Artemis and Apollo. By naming them after the most famous siblings of Greek mythology, we're celebrating the special bond these two share - small in number, perhaps, but powerful in presence and perfectly suited for the wild, sun-drenched landscape they were born into.

It’s been a whirlwind first three weeks for Artemis and Apollo as they transition from sleepy newborns to feisty explorers. Artemis has quickly established herself as the social, smart "little alpha" who always battles to the top of the dog pile - a sharp contrast to the more laid back Apollo, who prefers gulping down his meals while lounging upside down. Between family cozy nights by the fire with Lila and Thea and being carried through the neighborhood in scarves by the kids, the pups are already well-integrated into family life. Even Lila is helping out, stopping by the new whelping box for "aunty" visits and gentle licks - though she is firm about the fact that her milk bar is not open for business!

During these crucial early weeks, we focused on puppy stimulation exercises - simple but vital stressors like cradling them on their backs and tickling their toes to stimulate brain activity and improve long-term health and stability. These sessions help the pups develop better resistance to disease and enhanced learning abilities as they grow.

Now that they are graduating to life outside the whelping box, we’ve begun introducing them to various surfaces and brief periods of outdoor exploration. These small steps, combined with meeting new friends and family, are essential for building their confidence and social skills.

As they move further into their development, we are prioritizing noise desensitization to prepare them for the sounds of the human world. They are already getting accustomed to different sound effects and environments - from new play things in their box to the various textures of the house - to ensure they become well-adjusted dogs. We will continue to increase their exposure to new locations and people as they grow older, but for now, we are simply enjoying watching them find their footing and start to explore their surroundings with curiosity and spirit.

So now, the moment you've all been waiting for, we would like to introduce the puppies of the Bella Primavera litter, in order of appearance:
