Week 5 - 10/10/2021

We had such a busy week for Week 5 that we’re a half a week late posting the pupdate! These little kitties are playing up a storm and on the go so they’re keeping us on our toes. They’re spending most of the day in the outside kennel with a lunch and dinner playtime in the yard and then an evening play in their newly revamped kennel area indoors, complete with toys, cool towels to sleep on, sleeping quarters and a custom made ramp for the doggie door. No, they’re not spoiled…

Before we brought out the puppy toys, sticks and leaves became the pups’ coveted prizes as they romped in the back yard. You can see many videos with Nursemaid Aelin playing with the puppies and letting them crawl all over her. A very cute and funny moment happened between Aelin and Bir (and was caught on camera so check out the "Puppy Pile 2: Bir's Revenge" video!). They were laying side by side, each with a leaf. Aelin’s was a big leaf and Bir’s was a small one. Aelin got interested in what Bir was playing with and started to sniff and potentially steal his toy. Another puppy got her attention and then you see Bir turn his head, stare at her big leaf, and snatch it away!!! She turned back to be like “what the?” as he was sitting there with her leaf in his mouth staring her down! They gently played with it together but was funny to see Bir’s revenge of taking her toy when she attempted to take his first! HAHA! So there big sis!

The play tunnel and toys were eventually brought outside so the pups had fun exploring and running through the tunnel for sneak attacks! Even Grandma Kyra made her way through the tunnel! Mama Zazu plays a tiny bit with the pups, but doesn’t do it much since they always try to feed from her and she won’t officially wean them away from her. Once she starts to play, they focus on that because they’re not really hungry, but she hasn’t done that too much. Playtime is lots of fun with big sis Aelin! She grabs a puppy toy gently in her mouth and runs by a puppy to lure them into a chase. She then play bows and its adorable seeing the little puppies play bow back and then hop in the air as they run to her to try to get the toy! Then Aelin will lay down and let them climb over her and play with the toy with her. She is amazingly gentle and is just the best with these pups!!! I really cannot get over how amazing she is being, it really melts my heart.

Speaking of melting hearts… Aelin and Aby have a love affair. I do not want to see Aelin’s reaction when these pups leave, especially Aby! Those two have formed a special bond for sure and it melts my heart every time they play together. Aelin just seems so extra gentle and snuggles more with Aby. I’m not crying, you’re crying…

The pups had a busy weekend with meeting some new people. Jon’s Mom wanted her friends to see the pups, so he offered to bring them to her house across town (good for pups and fun for everyone else!). Jon snuck out the two pups closest to the kennel door as to not alert Nursemaid Aelin that the puppies were being taken. The lucky duo was Mau and Aby (Bir and Manx will get a turn another week). They got to experience being in a Sherpa bag, going on a 20 min car ride each way and exploring a whole new house and yard. The pups know Jon’s Mom well since she visits us weekly, but they got to meet his Mom’s friends and his Mom’s almost two year old Poodle, Willow.

She was very interested in these small little things and did really well sniffing them and hanging out while they played with her toys! They even got to experience a quick dip in the pool and climb a few steps. These little guys were pooped out from their big adventure! Then my parents visited, which they of course also visit often, but also brought my Aunt along to play with the pups. Lots of fun stimulation leads to tired and well socialized puppies.

Well I’m going to wrap this up since I will have to write Week 6’s pupdate pretty soon. Enjoy the fun videos and photos now that they are out and about and playing more!

Birman: The Birman is a domestic cat breed with long-haired, color-pointed fur, distinguished by a silky coat, deep blue eyes and contrasting white "gloves" on each paw. They were the foundation of the breed, and all offspring were of this pair. They were heavily outcrossed with other long-hair breeds, like the Persian and Siamese, to help rebuild the Birman breed.
