Zia and Miles are quite the pair! Both dogs are very confident, friendly, easy going, outgoing and very people (and animal) oriented! Miles is in love with ALL humans and adapts very well in all situations. Zia has a bunch of animal friends at home (horses, goats, chickens and cats) and loves being with them as much as her people. Both dogs get to travel a lot with their families and have seen many scenic places. Miles has been all over CO and beyond. His favorite places to visit include the Colorado National Monument, Pikes Peak, and Crazy Horse Memorial. He even has ridden in a gondola! Zia has been all over AZ and beyond, and many of her destinations include camping, hiking or trail riding with their horses, or visiting rodeos. Their puppies should be very athletic, outgoing, social dogs!

This is a satellite litter for Desert Sol Chinooks with the puppies being raised in Globe, Arizona with Zia's family and Desert Sol assisting Zia's family as much as possible, including the screening and supporting of the puppy’s new homes.

Zia is good-natured with people and animals, has a strong athletic build, and is very intelligent. She is warm and affectionate with other animals as her family has horses, chickens, a goat, and three cats (one of which - Irish - is her favorite and Zia grooms him each day). Her family is athletic and enjoys outdoor activities like horseback riding, hiking, hunting, fishing, rock climbing and in true Chinook nature Zia is up for it all! Being very athletic, she keeps up easily with these activities. Since she lives in Arizona it gets warm at times and when this is the case her people go to the high country and find shady trails while she'll take the opportunity to jump into a cattle tank or water trough to cool off.

Her people often encounter other dogs, hikers, other riders, etc. and Zia relates easily with everyone. She is easy going and sociable, which makes her the perfectly mannered dog at rodeos. Last year alone, she traveled to Prescott, Holbrook, Taylor, Camp Verde, Tucson, Sonoita, Safford and Willcox, where she camped out with her people while their teenage daughter competed in high school rodeos. She got to interact with literally endless other rodeo dogs, people, horses, and cattle, all in new environments.

Miles lives by the morale code of all Chinooks - “Do no harm, Love People”. He is confident, friendly, outgoing, and very people-oriented and most people describe him as "very well mannered/chill". As most Chinooks do, he enjoys being around his people and interacting with them as much as possible. He does well with strangers and is great with kids and other dogs. He is easily motivated by food and high praise and learns quickly. His people describe him as athletic, fit, energetic and always happy. He loves a good howl with his humans who call them the "Chinook blues" (but only does this when initiated by his people). Miles is confident and astute and is able to adjust easily to most situations.

Greetings all! As we have just about rounded out our time with the pups before they go to their forever homes, we'd like to share a little bit about each of them. Here is a brief summary of the puppies & their personalities, in birth order.

Rolo- big boy, athletic & brave, sweet, full of kisses and not afraid to tussle. Been on short trips and sniffed noses with the horses. He will travel the yard with us and has confronted the cats without too much fuss. He is a bully at tug-o-war and uses his weight to his advantage. Not growly or nippy, not afraid to stand his ground. Pretty to look at, silver tan paws, dark mask, big paws, blackish tail.

Mina- big girl, sweet & strong, rowdy, chewed the corner of a Navajo rug in second! Also has confronted the cats, been to the horses, wanted to go after the goat there! Very cuddly and gentle, full of love & licking. She is excited and thoughtful at the same time. Not sudden or reactive, but happy & engaged with handling. Easy to love on. She has the dark muzzle & light tan features which make her easy on the eyes and respectable.

Aime- very refined appearance, delicate face, the lightest tawny colors with mask, tail and ear accents. Softer fur than the others. Licks deep into your ears and eyes, super sweet. Gentlest bites if any, mostly licks. Ready to go play, not afraid of rough & tumble. Has beautiful moments of playful rowdiness, then calm & sweet again. She will make a wonderful, steady, loving family companion.

Anwil- the gentle giant of the bunch, calm and easy going, puppy all the way though! Strong in every respect, tug-o-war and roughing up, but curious and gentle when engaged and in your lap. Follows us around until something else distracts him. Takes handling with ease. Big paws and stout body, he will be an easy companion and handle any chores. Very personable and full of love.

Brisa- sleek black in color, athletic and strong, she started out small and made up for it by growing fast and outpacing her peers! Probably wags more than everyone else combined! Comes when called, more kisses than the Hershey factory. Confronts the cats every time, ready to walk the driveway or jump in your lap for a minute, a couple of sweet licks and ready to move on to the next adventure! She is gentle and wiggly, takes a rough handling and is by far the most energetic of the bunch!

Puppy kisses are the ultimate anxiety relief!

Amor- Calm and gentle, plays rough with Brisa mostly; another higher energy pup. Curious and gentle, he'll be staying with us (John & Tiina) so he will have all of our issues as he develops. ;)

Eros- Sleek black, strong boy, and energetic. Sometimes take a moment to warm to strangers, but once he does he is attentive and loving. Started small but has caught up fast. Very energetic with tug-o-war and rowdy at times, takes rough handling in stride. Not shy around the cats, ready to romp around the driveway with us. Sometimes he's docile, sometimes rowdy, always curious. Probably the loudest pup and at the same time the most sensitive of the bunch, full of licks & love, calm, warm energy.

This time is always bittersweet...watching the pups go after they have completely changed our lives for the last couple months, but excited to see them start their next adventure.
