Seven pups (6 females and 1 male) were born May 26, 2026!

This litter represents an exciting blend of Baker’s steady, athletic structure and Ghost’s exceptional intelligence and agility. We expect these puppies to be well-balanced, high-performing Chinooks with the sturdy bone density and fluid, reach-and-drive gait that define the breed standard. With both parents boasting excellent health clearances, we anticipate robust, sound puppies capable of excelling in both performance venues and as dedicated family companions.

What to expect:

Size & Build: These pups will likely be average size and build for the breed standard.
Appearance: Genetically, this pairing offers a wonderful variety in coat color. 5 of 7 are tawny with a black mask (like Papa Baker) and 2 of 7 are buff (like Mama Ghost).
Temperament: Every puppy in this litter is bred to possess the signature Chinook temperament – loyal, intelligent, and deeply connected to their pack.

This is a satellite litter for Desert Sol Chinooks with the puppies being raised in the northern New Hampshire with Ghost & Baker's family and Desert Sol assisting their family as much as possible, including the screening and supporting of the puppy’s new homes. Baker is a standout example of the Chinook breed, combining a robust, athletic frame with an incredibly gentle and steady temperament. Weighing in at a lean, well-muscled 70 lbs, he possesses a luxurious coat and beautiful, classic tawny markings with a black mask.

Baker is as comfortable on the couch as he is on the trail. He is the ultimate "goofy" companion – full of joy during a game of Jolly Ball, yet calm and reliable in daily life. His health is excellent, and he has passed his health clearances with flying colors, boasting excellent hips and normal eyes. Whether he is interacting with children, other dogs, cats, or chickens, Baker is consistently kind and trustworthy. As a proven sire, he brings both excellent physical structure and a balanced, loving disposition to his progeny.

Week 6 - 7/7/2026

It’s unreal that we have had these happy wiggly babies for 6 weeks already! This week, their personalities and ears have grown. Mayapple honored her father Baker by displaying a one-up-one-down array, just like him! She is so adorable. It’s still unclear how the others ears will end up. But overnight, it seemed like their ears doubled in size. Im excited to see the final results!

As for personalities, it’s fascinating to watch their individual selves emerge. Trillium was the firstborn, and the first puppy we ever whelped. She has a quiet intelligence about her. She investigates new toys and new environments with curiosity and confidence. She flips over toys and food bowls to see what’s on the other side. She also has a very playful and affectionate personality. Currently her favorite activity is going up and down the slide, teaching the others her technique on the slippery surface.
