Thank you so much Pam and Mark Turner from Tennessee River Chinooks for raising and socializing these puppies so well! Pups are all fantastic with sweet personalities and varying energy levels. Whether a pup moves forward in our breeding program or simply becomes a great family dog, each one of these owners have shown immense support for intentional crossbreeding by adopting this adorable little ones! Thank you one and all!

As is common with our litters, pups are spread out all over. This time we have one staying near home in Tennessee, two that will live within 20 minutes of each other in Georgia, California, Utah, Indiana, Oregon, and Ohio. Check out the pups destinations and final family photos below.

The Mythical Creatures litter (as always in order of appearance):

Desert Sol Darby Pearl (formerly known as Pixie)

chinook puppy

Call Name:

Darby

Sex:

Female

Destination:

Darby only had to drive one hour away as her new family lives in TN too! Kevin and Ali and their two teenage daughters were lucky enough to get to visit the pups a few times before they went home. When coming up with the name Darby, it was on the list of Irish names they like (family is Irish, kids have Irish names, etc.) and Pearl, as it’s a southern name, and their families are and have been in the Deep South. The Irish meaning of Darby is “free from envy”….. perfect for the girl who has it all!

Desert Sol Poke Gremlin (formerly known as Gremlin)

chinook puppy

Call Name:

Poke

Sex:

Male

Destination:

Poke went to southern CA with Destrie and Malcolm and their son Makai. Malcolm has been keeping his eye on the Chinook breed for some time and was very excited to be getting a pup from this litter. The story behind Poke’s name is Malcolm and Makai are native Hawaiian and they all wanted a Hawaiian theme name.

Desert Sol King Chewie (formerly known as Gnome)

chinook puppy

Call Name:

Chewie

Sex:

Male

Destination:

Chewie went to UT to live with Eddie and Brittany and their kids. As previous black and tan Chinook owners, they had a soft spot for the two black and tan boys in this litter. Their kiddos even drew some pretty cute drawings of their family with a black & tan pup! Regarding the name, the family considered their interests and discovered these pups have a recent ancestor with the name Jedi. Being big Star Wars fans they kept that theme and chose "Chewie" (for Chewbacca). However, their son was set on the name "King" and Eddie is a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan. Considering all of that they came up with “King Chewie” - shortened would be K.C. Around the house he’ll just be called Chewie!

Desert Sol Shaconage Bodhi (formerly known as Lutin)

chinook puppy

Call Name:

Bodhi

Sex:

Male

Destination:

Bodhi went to IN with Kim and Todd and their 3 boys who we think will keep him very busy! Although Bodhi will be running around and playing with the boys during the day, he also has a very important job of snuggling with mom and dad at the end of the day too. They named him Bodhi as it looked like a pup who could be happy hanging out on the beach or playing with the boys. Shaconage (Sha-Kon-A-Hey) is Cherokee for “Place of Blue Smoke”, which is what they called the Smoky Mountains. This name was selected to pay homage to Bodhi’s birthplace in Tennessee.

Desert Sol Dume (formerly known as Griffin)

chinook puppy

Call Name:

Dume

Sex:

Male

Destination:

Dume went to OR to live with Joe and Kira and will be their first pup together! They will be having lots of fun hiking, skijoring, bikejoring and walking in the beautiful mountains in OR. They chose Dume as a reference to a character from one of their favorite TV shows, "Star Wars: Rebels". They chose to name him after a character who is known for his bravery and loyalty, using his name from before the Clone Wars as a nod to the ending of Rebels.

Desert Sol Forest (formerly known as Kobold)

chinook puppy

Call Name:

Forest

Sex:

Male

Destination:

Forest is going to GA with Robin & Jake. They chose his name to be Forest as that is where they spend much of their time hiking and camping, and it brings them peace and happiness. Being out in nature is a passion of theirs and they can’t wait for their boy to enjoy it with them and they hope he loves it as much as they do. He’s already been on a few backpacking trips to get introduced to dad’s favorite hiking spots and as a bonus, he lives near his brother Doug and they have puppy play dates together!

Desert Sol Douglas (formerly known as Adaro)

chinook puppy

Call Name:

Doug

Sex:

Male

Destination:

Doug is also going to GA to live with Lauren and Allen. His new family loves human names for pets (Wesley was their previous dog name and Walter is their current cat’s name) and they landed on Douglas. The name was inspired by one of their favorite authors, Douglas Adams. As mentioned before, Doug lives really close to his brother Forest and they have fun having brother puppy play dates!

Desert Sol Dorothy Dotts the I (formerly known as Siren)

chinook puppy

Call Name:

Dottie

Sex:

Female

Destination:

Dottie went to OH to live with Alex and Jeff and their BMD Vitality dog Clara. They wanted to continue with the BMD Vitality Project with the Chinook/BMD pup and Dottie fit the bill! Dorothy, or Dottie as she is called routinely, gained her name partly out of a household tradition and partly out of appreciation for the classic Wizard of Oz character. Their household tradition is to select "old" human names for their pets, those that would have been popular in the first half of the 20th century or before, and so Dorothy fits the bill. They also appreciate that the character Dorothy is a winning combination of sweet, innocent and bold and perfectly willing to overcome her fears as she navigates obstacles on her journey.
