Week 7 - 12/30/2012

Week 7... the bittersweet week. On the sweet side we have our little puppies playing their little puppy hearts out, looking as adorable as ever, and melting our hearts. On the bitter side they don't sleep as much, need that much more time and attention, and are driving us nuts as we wait patiently until the day they get to go home! As we've been told by fellow breeders, it is the week that every breeder needs so they don't want to keep all of the adorable little puppies themselves. :) Of course next weekend will be tough as we say goodbye to most, but it will be filled with joy and happiness and we look forward to seeing the smiles each puppy puts on the faces of their new family. The puppies got their new collars for Christmas so they look all grown up now. They got to play with some kids (our niece and nephews) during the Christmas week so the puppies got some 'kid' socialization. It's funny how the kids had more fun with the puppy toys than the puppies! But it was good for the puppies to have the high energy of children running around them to prepare some of them for their new homes.

Ears have been popping up for at least half of our puppies this week. Zaria was the first (as seen in week 6 pictures) to have the ears perked and today she's the first to have one ear straight up! Kody (formerly known as Inti) is in the awkward ear stage where they don't know what they want to do at this point. Lio and Lyric's (aka Arinna) ears are in the cute semi-perked stage. Ra has pushed Kody aside as being the top kitty lover. As soon as Spyro is in Ra's line of vision, he runs right up to Spyro and starts licking like mad! Spyro can't sway Ra away unless he literally jumps the fence to leave the puppy area. He definitely made a new buddy. Marici continues to be our resident licker. She has the highest LPM (licks per minute) of any of the pups! She is definitely a Mini-Me (aka Kyra's daughter). Sury and Apollo continue to be their sweet selves as always. Just in case you were wondering, having Zaria playing with her weekly picture toy is not planned as she gets excited when she sees it and immediately picks it up to munch on it while we take the pictures!

Next week we'll have our hands full playing with the puppies and preparing the paperwork for their new families. Names have been trickling in and the new families now can ooh and ahhh at their specific puppy's pictures on the website. All of the pups are so adorable and sweet and I am sure we'll be a wreck next week but I can definitely say this has been such a fun and wonderful experience for Jon and I and we are happy to be a part of the Chinook (breeding) community! :)
