Week 5 - 7/11/2024
These pups are growing so fast and so smart. Lots of visitors and lots of sounds and lots of change.
Monday we had a great visit with Jane, who brought flowers and took lots of videos and photos and loved them up. Tuesday we moved to the sunroom for a little more space and easy access to the outdoors. Wednesday we had a weird weather event: Tornado warning. The phones went off and the local weather person said winds were starting to swirl just south of us, so Becky set up the popup doggie playpen in the basement and we shuffled 10 puppies, 2 dogs and 2 adults into the basement for 45 minutes. To this point our Hermione and Greta have never gone in the basement and we liked it that way. They now have no fear of the open stairs… The pups had a blast playing.
Visitors for dinner and overnight on Thursday were so excited to meet the puppies. One of the soon to be puppy parents came and loved them all up.
Becky is finishing setting up the “chute” from the sunporch to the backyard so the pups can get outside and do their business and have fun with the kiddie pool and stuff. This brought all the sounds of drills, saws, hammers and the weed wacker. Everyone was fairly ok with them once they became routine. There were definitely some shared looks of “what the heck is that?” and then back to sleep.
Auntie Hermione is to the rescue anytime we are upset, which happens a lot when Mama Greta decides going in to feed the pups is too much with all the teeth and nails. Nebula has mastered the play bow. Mars is fascinated with the center of the water bowl. Luna and Aurora really hop! Venus is a master cuddler, but also likes to nibble your chin. Nova is the fattest hobbit in the group and Andromeda loves a good sleep then play!
Artemis is still half the size of her siblings, but doing all the same things with a slightly quieter voice. Celeste likes to do things in her own time: eating and sleeping. Asterix has a swagger already. Everyone is playing more independently with the toys and still checking where the limits are playing with each other.
We’ve got some good tricks starting. Coming when beckoned, stealing cell phones and play bowing. Everyone is enjoying puppy mush and making a right mess of it all before peeing and pooping and then back to sleep!
