Birth - 12/5/2021

Kima and Dylan's 5 gorgeous pups have crossed over from Halloween Town and entered into our world! Kima's temperature drop happened mid-day on Friday, 12/3 which usually signifies pups will be coming in about 24 hours. Kima decided to make us wait and while showing a few false alarms, didn't have pups until 35 hours later at 1am (they always love the middle of the night!). Luckily the humans all were good company for each other. We watched old videos of Kima when she was just a few days and weeks old, talked about the joys and struggles when it comes to dog breeding and parenting of the less-furry little ones. Little Sally has the distinct honor of being the first naturally whelped Desert Sol firstborn that is a female-and boy was her birth memorable!

First borns tend to be the hardest, especially for first time moms, but Sally wanted to make us dance- literally! Little Sally came out feet first and didn't want to budge for a bit. We stood Kima up and after a twirling whelping box dance that involved 2 people, 1 dog, and a newborn puppy half out, finally little Sally was born. Two more pups were whelped with much less fanfare and Kima was done (but still had 2 pups to go). After waiting about 4 hours after Jack was born, we headed off to the vet. It turned out the vet we thought would be available for a potential c-section had no doctors available to do a c-section that day (Sunday). We scrambled a bit and ultimately landed at Kima's normal vet (as opposed to her reproductive vet). A few hours later and the last two pups entered the fray, happy and healthy.

Everything turned out okay in the end, but the Nightmare Before Christmas litter certainly lived up to its name!

Desert Sol Sally

Sally is the deuteragonist in the 1993 stop-motion film, The Nightmare Before Christmas. She is a rag doll monster from Halloween Town, created by Dr. Finkelstein. An intelligent, yet inconspicuous woman, Sally yearns for independence, but is repeatedly restrained by her overprotective creator. Sally (the character) is kind, sensible, honest, and incredibly clever.

Desert Sol Shock

Shock is one of the three "Oogie Boys", the secondary antagonists of the 1993 stop-motion film, The Nightmare Before Christmas. Shock (the character) is the most cunning, the most intelligent, the most skeptical, and the only female of Oogie's minions.

Jack Skellington is the "Pumpkin King" of Halloween Town, and the protagonist of the 1993 stop-motion film, The Nightmare Before Christmas. Jack Skellington is the patron spirit of Halloween, portrayed as being on par with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny within his own holiday. Jack (the character) is very much an undead gentleman, graceful and patient in equal measures and can usually be counted on to do what is in everyone's best interest.

Zero is a supporting character in the 1993 stop-motion film, The Nightmare Before Christmas. He is Jack Skellington's pet ghost dog. Zero (the character) is entirely loyal to his master. Despite his ghostly form, he acts very much like a normal dog; his favorite activity is fetching the bones pulled from Jack's skeletal body.

Oogie Boogie is the main antagonist in the 1993 stop-motion film, The Nightmare Before Christmas. He is the infamous Boogeyman, depicted as a bug-filled burlap sack with a penchant for gambling. Oogie's (the character) mannerisms resemble that of a snazzy showman, as he typically enjoys dancing about his lair and singing jazzy show tunes.
