Week 7 - 1/23/2022
This is it! After this week the pups start their journeys to the forever homes with their humans. I truly believe they will all flourish with their new families and I have no doubt they will be loved beyond measure. We hosted a small Puppy Party last weekend to include older adults, younger adults, young children, props they will encounter in the world, and plenty of noise with loads of loving. We have continued (and will continue through the week) meeting people of all ages, genders, and races. They will also continue to explore the “world” on our 4 acre property. They had their Puppy Evals at the Veterinary Clinic this week and received their first set of vaccinations, deworming, and all were microchipped. It was a VERY long and loud 40 mile drive to the clinic! Some louder than others! But all did great and checked out as healthy pups. Kima is no longer nursing the pups, which I have no doubt she is thrilled about. Puppy teeth are razor sharp! The pups are eating separately now, as we have some who are more food driven than others. They are sleeping for a good 6-7 hour stretch at night. And they are settling into the night time routine very nicely.
Shock continues to lead the charge on being the first to explore, followed closely by Jack. Shock and Zero are very interested in our outdoor cat-thankfully he was raised by our first Chinook, Suka, so he’s great with dogs (we all think he believes he’s a dog as well!).
Oogie is an old soul with a heart of gold. He’s a very chill dog. When he fusses, it’s typically just for a minute and then he just moves on. Jack is working on his roo with his Auntie Tika…it’s there but needs fine tuning! Jack loves people and loves his food. He’s going to be a big boy when he grows up. Zero is a tomboy-she can wrestle just as tough (if not more than) her brothers. She is sassy but not in an annoying way and she, too loves her food. Shock is the social butterfly of the group. Nobody is happier to see you than Shock! But this can also be a problem when it comes to eating…she’s very easily distracted.
Each one of these precious puppies is unique and has their own special traits. I wish them health, happiness, and wonderful experiences throughout their lives. Each one will forever hold a special place in my heart.
