Week 1

Week 1 - 12/12/2021

The first week of newborn puppies flew by with these adorable little sausages. They have been very vocal from the start, with a couple of them even starting to learn barking in they’re sleep. Is Nook rooing on the horizon? So so cute! They're growing daily, averaging about 3-4 oz weight gain each day. Watching them nurse is always a barrel of laughs with lots of satisfied purring along with the occasional frantic searching when they’ve accidentally misplaced their milk valve! A couple of the pups have started taking their first steps so we’re enjoying the calm before the storm. We have started adding early neurological stimulation with their daily weigh ins.

Kima has been an incredibly doting Mama, which does not surprise us in the least. She only wants to be out of the whelping box for potty breaks or eating and then she’s right back with her babies. She’s done a great job of keeping them clean and loves to snuggle up with them. Kima loves to have family members come say hello to her babies - giving the babies kisses while they’re in our arms.
