Week 3 - 12/26/2021

Three weeks has brought so many fun and exciting changes to our sweet furry babies. We have expanded our whelping box to include a potty area, of which they all took to it immediately. It’s so much nicer having them keep the sleep area free of pee and poop! They are certainly getting vocal as well. At the first site of Mama Kima they all break out in “desperate” piercing cries that they are starving! Kima is kind enough to “torture” them for a few minutes while she first tends to cleaning the pups and then cleaning the potty area before she finally allows them to step up to the milk bar. I don’t anticipate this will last much longer though because the pups have grown so much that they can almost reach her teats while she’s standing.

Zero found her bark and is really quite impressed with herself! She can be heard letting that adorable little bark fly from time to time throughout the day. They have all found their ferocious play growls as well. After they’ve filled up their bellies with Mama, wrestling matches always break out and growling is on full display. They are all getting much steadier on their feet and to see their playful posturing and pawing at each other just melts my heart.

Shock and Jack seem to be the most adventurous out of the group. Both have been trying desperately to sneak out of the whelping area. This morning at 1 am, while Kima was INSIDE the whelping box feeding babies, I snuck off to the restroom only to return and find the entire crew OUTSIDE the whelping box nursing!

Oogie has just about caught up to his siblings in weight and is always the last one feeding on Mama. Good boy Oogie! He really has one of the sweetest faces and just loves a good cuddle with the humans.
